Toyota Boosts Production to Near Pre-quake Levels

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) said today it is rapidly returning to pre-earthquake production levels, and plans to produce an additional
350,000 vehicles from October through March 2012 to make up for production lost as a result of the March 11 disaster.
TMC's output in Japan was down 15.9 percent in June, compared to the same month a year ago, but that is a big improvement over the 54.4 percent drop in May and the 78.4 percent dive in April.
Worldwide, Toyota production was down 9.2 percent in June, compared to output in June 2010, and down 38 percent for the first six months of this year.
