Eight Lexus, Toyota Models Earn ‘Perfect Scores’ for Safety

Eight Lexus and Toyota pickups and SUVs earned a place on a list titled "The Safest Trucks of 2011" published by Forbes magazine Sept. 7 for receiving "perfect scores." The eight are the Toyota 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Highlander, RAV4, Tacoma, Tundra and Venza and the Lexus RX.
The author, Jason Fogelson, said he used Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash results and electronic stability control (ESC) data as the basis for his determination, assigning point values from 0 to 10 for each category. A total of 32 points were needed to earn a "perfect score."
